I have the great good fortune to be the Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation. This blog covers a fairly wide variety of topics related to Eclipse technology, the community, and the ecosystem as well as the operations of the Eclipse Foundation itself.

Hi Mike,
I am sending you this mail because I fear there are some simple but serious basic flaws in the Eclipse CDT developer environment that are not being addressed.
I am a very experienced Visual Studio Windows developer and recently I have been working a lot with Eclipse on Linux.
It is possible of course that there is a culture gap I am just not managing to cross. I am open to different approaches, but despite many hours of study, and reading the inputs of very helpful people on the forums (CDT) I have not got acceptable answers for some very basic issues.
After all this, it seems unlikely to me that my problem is just a culture gap.
I feel that emails and forums are not powerful enough to convey my conclusions (or maybe to learn better how things are supposed to be done to avoid the problems I encounter).
I would very much like to have a conference call with a CDT architect to discuss the issues.
I think this will be productive because either I will learn how to get what I need done – and other Windows developers can benefit from the same advice – or the Eclipse community may be able to incorporate the feedback into the project.
Is it possible to setup such a call?
Who should I speak to about this?
Thank you in advance,
David Sackstein

David,
Thank you for your note and for your interest in the Eclipse CDT project.
You should address your concerns directly to the CDT team on their mailing list at cdt-dev@eclipse.org
The Eclipse Foundation does not direct the activities of its projects. Each project is a self-governing community.
